Poor attitude towards truck driving causing shortage, says freight body

The national body representing road freight has shot down claims the South Island’s alternative highway is causing a truck driver shortage. Road Transport Forum chief executive Ken Shirley said the industry was short of drivers because truck driving was not given the status it deserved.

Lyttelton Port of Christchurch, in consultation with our key stakeholders, is implementing a vehicle booking system (VBS) at our container handling sites. A VBS is an online tool that requires trucking companies to book time slots and verifies information before trucks arrive. This will result in a number of benefits to all parties in the supply chain by improving information data quality, reducing congestion and smoothing out traffic flows.

Please note Public Holidays are Import Demurrage free days as per their price schedule – Monday 23 October will be a free day.

Hazardous Storage allowable dwell time remains the same. Please contact Customer Service if you have a Dangerous Goods container query or a special request. Please plan with your customer to manage the volumes over the long weekend and the following week.

Notice of Southbound Rate Restoration

NOTICE OF TRADE – SOUTHBOUND RATE RESTORATION FOR OCTOBER

Dear Valued Customers,

In order to maintain a high level of service, fast transit times and reliable scheduling the MAJOR SHIPPING LINES have decided to introduce a “Rate Restoration” (RR) on their southbound Asia to New Zealand service as below.

The proposed increase is USD 200/20’ and USD 400/40’ on its southbound service from Asia to New Zealand. It will be applied for all shipments sailing on or after 15th October, 2017 on the basis of B/L (Bill of Lading) dates. This increase applies to both dry and refrigerated cargo and will be applied on top of current freight rates.

TLC Global is continuing to negotiate with all the shipping lines to mitigate any increase in shipping costs. Your continued support helps with these negotiations and we will keep you updated as the negotiations develop.
